Cork Mosaic Tile
Naturally green and environmentally friendly are just some of the reasons we like our Cork Mosaic Tiles. These one-inch diameter Penny Round cork mosaic tiles come mesh mounted and they are suitable for interior, wet or dry areas for residential or commercial spaces. Suitable projects can include floors or walls in a kitchen or bathroom, shower walls, countertops, backsplashes and anywhere your design imagination takes you.
Our Cork Mosaic tiles are made from 100% Recycled, Post industrial content of corks that are discarded by the wine industry. We press the corks and shape them in to the mosaic shapes that are so unique and beautiful. We then mesh mount the tiles in to approximately 2 square foot sheets.
The cork mosaic tiles come pre-sealed, however, we still recommend a protective coat of water based polyurethane once the cork mosaic material is installed. And for wet installations such as a shower, the cork tiles must be sealed with a 2 component polyurethane material such as Bona Kemi Traffic after installation and approximately once each year to maintain the protection. Please read the installation instructions found on the installation specs tab from this product page for more installation detail.

Cork Mosaic Tiles Installation instructions
Installation of our Cork Mosaic tiles is fairly straight-forward and easy for experienced tile installers. We do recommend that our cork mosaic tiles be installed by a licensed, professional tile contractor. That being said, follow the steps below for the installation of our cork mosaic tiles product.
Step 1:
Install over a clean, solid substrate such as concrete or backerboard that is free of dirt, debris, or any other substance that might affect the bonding of the cork mosaic tiles.
Step 2:
Evenly spread a ceramic tile adhesive over the prepared substrate
Recommended mortars: Acrylic modified mortars by Laticrete and Custom Building products are readily available and are strongly recommended. For shower wall installations, thin set mortars with an acrylic additive are the only acceptable installation adhesive materials.
Step 3:
Place Cork Mosaic tile sheets carefully next to one another using a utility knife to make cuts where needed. Apply pressure as needed to ensure sheets are level.
Step 4:
Evenly apply a sanded grout with a high-quality rubber trowel while along the way making certain that all joints are completely filled. The finished grout joints should be uniformly smooth without any low spots, voids, or pin holes or gaps showing.
We highly recommend
StarQuartz Quartzlock2 pre-mixed Urethane Grouts because of this product's durability and the pre-mixed grouts ease of installation.
Other Sanded or Epoxy Grouts are also acceptable and we can recommended: Laticrete, Custom Building products, Mapei
Step 5:
After the grout has completely cured, finish the installation by applying an even coat of water based Polyurethane with a roller or sponge. Recommended Polyurethanes include Minwax or Bona Kemi Traffic. For wet installations such as a shower, only a 2 component finish such as Bona Kemi Traffic is acceptable. These 2 component finishes are more durable and longer lasting than single component applications and thus are longer lasting for wet environments.
For cleaning cork mosaic tiles, one should sweep or vacuum any floor installations as needed.
