Are you considering installing a travertine floor, tumbled stone on your backsplash, or slate on the backyard barbeque?  You may want to consider metal tile desinintegrating any one of the beautiful and elegant metal tile designs available from our site as a unique element in to your tiling project.  Metal tile is durable, long lasting, easy to install, and offers a range of tile designs to suit most everyone’s tastes.  Metal tile is a great material to use as a design accent with most any of the products in the natural stone family.  Read below for a few tips from the team at AnchorBayTile on designing your project using metal tile accent pieces.

Tip # 1:  Metal tile as an accent choice in a travertine floor

Travertine is a very popular choice as a flooring material due to the natural beauty that comes from displaying this material over a large area.  The variation which is inherent from piece to piece makes travertine an excellent choice for property owners who want to bring a unique and natural feel to their own personal space.

A great way to add the perfect decorative accent piece which blends so beautifully with travertine is to consider using one of the many Pewter dot designs available on our website.  When using large format travertine tiles as a flooring choice, a wonderful design element would be to add a metal tile dot as an accent piece either every other tile for smaller floors or every third or fourth tile for large areas.  Such a design choice could serve to pull varying elements in the room together by coordinating between colors, a certain style choice, or theme which may be the overriding goal when you the designer had this room in mind.

Tip #2:  Metal tile as an accent choice with a tumbled travertine Kitchen backsplash

It is no understatement to say that Metal tile is an excellent choice as an accent piece when using tumbled stone on a backsplash.  Metal tile in this scenario blends in very well with the individual uniqueness of this natural stone product.  Metal tile especially in Pewter coordinates perfectly with other metal and stainless steel appliances and fixtures often found in today’s kitchen.

When installing tumbled stone on a backsplash, whether laying the tile straight or as a diagonal pattern, metal tile inserted every two to three tiles truly does set a kitchen apart from an “ordinary” tumbled stone installation.  Choose Pewter metal tiles for stone in lighter shades and consider Bronze metal tiles with darker shaded stone or in a kitchen with a lot of copper decorative pieces and/or lighting fixtures.

Tip #3:  Metal tile as an accent choice when choosing slate

Slate is one of the prettiest materials in the natural stone family.  Slate can have wild variation from piece to piece which is the very feature that gives this material it’s naturally occurring beauty.  The wide variety of shades and colors of slate make it the perfect choice to use metal tile as an accent piece in a slate installation.

A good example might be for a homeowner choosing to tile an outdoor built in barbeque or bar/serving area using slate material.  Integrating either a Pewter or Bronze metal tile accent piece in with the tile design would take the look and feel of this outdoor gathering place to a “new level”.  In addition to or instead of using a 2” or 4” metal tile for such a project, a barbeque would be a good candidate for a metal tile liner bar over the grill on the barbeque “backsplash” or even on the lower face of the barbeque just under the grill.  Metal tile blends very well with the colors that arise because of the variation in slate and should always be a consideration when you want a unique design element to set your home apart from others.
